Position Description

The ALS Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of the ALS service line in accordance with all laws, regulations, or Inspira policies and procedures. The ALS Operations manager must uphold all the duties listed under the paramedic job description. Additionally, the ALS Operations Manager serves as an exemplar of ethical management practices and actively cultivates a positive patient experience that aligns seamlessly with Inspira Health's mission, vision, and values. Attends all mandatory meetings, complete all required network certifications and tasks within the allotted time. Will assist in the onboarding process of all new employees and work collaboratively with the other leaders to grow and strengthen the department within the communities we serve.

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree is preferred or already in enrolled.
  • Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory/management experience.
  • Ten years' experience in pre-hospital care and transport required.

Certification/ Licensure:

Required:

  • NJ EMT-Paramedic or NJ endorsed Mobile Intensive Care Nurse or certification eligible for NJ Reciprocity certification within 90 days. Candidate will maintain all required licensure/certification as defined as defined in NJAC 8:40, 8:41.
  • Incident Command Certifications: 100, 200, 300, 700, 800
  • Valid drivers license in NJ in accordance with Inspira Healths Fleet Safety ADM.291*IHN*.

Position Responsibilities

Business Continuity:

  • Oversees the proper and efficient operation of the paramedic (ALS) service line including, but not limited to chart review, billing accuracy, quality assurance, best practice, education, training of staff, certification and licensure renewals, continuity and safety during the treatment and transport of patients

Shift Duties:

  • Performs routine shift duties as assigned by leadership, consisting of but not limited to schedule maintenance, call-out coverage, documentation, reporting of attendance/lateness related problems, timecard management, equipment and distribution as required.
  • The ALS operations manager may cover open supervisor positions as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency and capability with the performnace of the essential duties and responsibilities of the ALS service line
  • Effective implementation of regular rounds to all stations is essential for upholding operational standards, ensuring safety, and mitigating risks.
  • Exercise vigilance and attention to detail while inspecting stations.
  • Respect confidentiality and sensitive information encountered during rounds.

Fiscal Responsibility:

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with healthcare providers, and stakeholders to secure partnerships and service agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions and maintain positive relationships with key partners.
  • Ensure the fiscal responsibility of the ALS service line.

People Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication of information to staff, monitors the safety of on-duty personnel; conducts staff performance appraisals, conducts patient chart audits as part of the performance improvement and carries out consultation and/or remediation as required for all staff.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders, including medical staff, administrative teams and other departments.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations, emergency services and community resources to enhance patient care and service provision.

Ethical Leadership and Management:

  • Serve as a role model for ethical leadership, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and professionalism within the department.
  • Lead by example and promote a positive work environment that aligns with Inspira Health's mission, vision, and values.

Data Analysis and Performance Metrics:

  • Utilize data analysis to monitor and assess departmental performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing data-driven solutions.
  • Generate regular reports and metrics to inform decision-making, track key performance indicators, and report to senior leadership

Employee Development and Engagement:

  • Oversee personnel matters, including recruitment, training, performance management, and professional development for staff within the department.
  • Promote a positive work culture that encourages employee engagement, growth, and retention.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, workflow enhancements, and innovation within ground transportation operations.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to elevate the efficiency and effectiveness of services provided.

Community Engagement and Public Relations:

  • Represent the EMS and Ground Transportation Department in community events, health fairs, and outreach efforts to raise awareness and build positive relationships with the local community.
