Inspira Medical Center Elmer's Commitment to Patients Leads to Recognition By John DiAngelo, Inspira Health President and CEO Inspira Elmer has long been known as a leader in patient satisfaction. Every day our physicians, nurses and staff deliver what we call a WOW experience to our patients, and it's paid off. We just earned the 2019 Healthgrades Outstanding Patient Experience award. Healthgrades helps connect consumers to the best providers by giving them information to help them make decisions about their care. Inspira Elmer was one of just two hospitals in New Jersey to win this national award. To qualify, the hospital had to score in the top 15% of more than 3,400 hospitals across the country. Elmer hospital patients participated in a 32-question survey about their experience, ranging from cleanliness and nose level in rooms to things like provider communications. The survey also asked patients whether they would recommend Elmer to a friend or family. The results were overwhelmingly positive. Healthgrades was not the only organization to recognize Inspira Elmer so far this year. The Leapfrog Group once again recognized the hospital with an A grade in hospital safety. Leapfrog collects data about hospitals and health networks to help patients make the best decisions about their care. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is made up of 28 different patient safety measures that indicate how well a hospital protects patients from preventable errors, injuries and infections. To be awarded an a, hospitals have to reach the highest safety standards in the country. And, finally, earlier this spring, we gathered with the Inspira Elmer staff to celebrate that the hospital had been named one of America's Best Hospitals by the Women's Choice Award® in 2019 for Obstetrics and Orthopedics. This is the second award for each service and signifies that Inspira is one of the top health care providers in the country for these specialties based on a review of nearly 5,000 hospitals. The methodology for the America's Best Hospitals combines national accreditations, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey results, and hospital outcome scores with national research about women's health care preferences. Out focus on patients is the core of our culture - the Inspira Promise: provide safe care. provide high-quality outcomes, and create WOW patient experiences. We work hard every day to foster this culture so that people in our communities feel safe and confident that they are getting the best care possible at Inspira. We hope that it will continue to pay off across our entire network.
