Dietetic Internship

Inspira Health Dietetic Internship is a 10 month, full-time accredited internship with a concentration in Clinical Dietetics. The mission of the internship is: To prepare entry-level Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in an internship program partnering with Inspira Health and area facilities in order to contribute to the improved health and well-being of all served.

Registered Dietitians (RDN's) are food and nutrition experts who have met the following criteria to earn the RDN credential:

  • Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Completed an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program (also called internship) at a health-care facility, community agency, or a food service corporation or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies.
  • Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). For more information regarding the examination, refer to CDR’s website at
  • Completed continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.

The goals of the program area as follows.

Program Goal I. 
The program will prepare and retain competent entry-level registered dietitian nutritionists for southern New Jersey area.


  1. 90% of interns will complete program requirements within 150% of the program length which is 60 weeks.
  2. 100% of the graduate interns are expected to take CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within 12 months of program completion
  3. 80% of the interns will pass the national registration exam on the first attempt.
  4. 80% of graduates over a five year period will pass CDR credentialing exam for dietitian nutritionists within one year following the first attempt.
  5. 80% of of graduates are employed in dietetics or related fields within 12 months of graduation.
  6. 80% of of graduate interns will be employed in the southern New Jersey area
  7. Employers will rate graduate interns at 4.0 or better in all areas surveyed ( on a scale of 1-5) for entry level competency in a work setting.
  8. Based on Graduating Intern Survey Data, 90% of interns will idicate that they were provided opportunities to master learning objectives by an average score of 4 or greater for each competency

Program Goal II
The program will prepare graduate interns who are culturally sensitive and have a commitment to community outreach and service..


  1. 75% of graduates will indicate that they participated in one or more local community service activities within 12 months of graduation.
  2. Employers will rate interns at 4.0 or  better (on a scale of 1-5) on their ability to be culturally sensitive..  
  3. Based on self-described comfort leval, 80% of graduates will feel confident engaging with culturally and otherwise diverse persons and populations in professional activities.
