CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ (February 3, 2015) – The Breast Cancer Bridge program at Inspira’s Frank and Edith Scarpa Regional Cancer Pavilion recently received a $250 donation from the Radiography Club at Cumberland County College (CCC). The club members sold t-shirts—emblazoned with a creative breast cancer awareness message—to raise funds for both their class expenses and a local charity. “We chose to donate to Inspira’s Breast Cancer Bridge program in Vineland because it is a local organization and we wanted the money we raised to directly benefit the people in our community,” said Brad Plum, president of the Radiography Club at CCC. “We began the event in October and have continued to sell shirts throughout the year. We were very pleased with the success and are planning additional fundraising events this year.” Inspira’s Breast Cancer Bridge program provides personal counseling and support for women who have abnormal mammograms, breast changes or lumps, or who are newly diagnosed with breast cancer and undergoing cancer treatment. A registered nurse becomes the patient’s health care advocate and friend—offering consolation, support and practical advice about breast cancer. The free service is a complement to surgical, radiation and medical oncology care and is customized around each woman’s needs and requests. In 2014, Inspira’s Breast Cancer Bridge program received more than $13,000 from local donations and various Inspira employee fundraisers. “We are very appreciative of the Radiography Club at CCC and all of our donors who support the Breast Cancer Bridge throughout the year,” said Ruth Ann Bishop-Sotak, R.N., M.S., C.B.C.N., coordinator of Inspira’s Breast Cancer Bridge program. “Our unique program provides women with breast cancer support, detailed and accurate information, and practical advice in a way that is timely and personal. These funds truly make a difference in the lives of our patients.” For more information or to order a t-shirt, contact the CCC Radiography Club at email@example.com.
