The event’s keynote speaker was Nieca Goldberg, M.D., a cardiologist and nationally recognized pioneer in women’s heart health. Dr. Goldberg has appeared on several television programs including The Today Show and The View and has been interviewed by reporters from The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. She offered women a variety of heart health information and prevention tips and signed copies of her new book, Dr. Nieca Goldberg’s Complete Guide to Women’s Health.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and nearly 39 percent of all female deaths in the nation result from cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease and stroke. Several local women put a local angle on these startling statistics by offering moving testimonials about their experiences with heart attack and stroke here in our community.
The Women’s Heart Health Conference is held each year in recognition of Heart Month and offers women a variety of activities including yoga and relaxation demos, as well as educational presentations from SJH health experts.
SJH is a nonprofit, integrated health care system, providing access to a continuum of health services. SJH provides hospital services, numerous community health clinics, home health services, and specialty services, which serve the medical and health care needs of Southern New Jersey residents.
