Vineland, NJ (July 19) – South Jersey Healthcare has been awarded a Best-in-Class Award for employee engagement. Presented by HR Solutions, SJH’s employee opinion survey vendor, the award signifies that the health system scored within the top 10 percent of the HR Solutions normative database. The employee engagement score is based on the responses to several questions on the Employee Opinion Survey.

Studies show that an engaged workforce results in better performance across an organization.  Although a standard definition of engagement is still being worked out, there are a number of factors that seem to foster it.  These include:

  • effective two-way communication between managers and staff
  • employee awareness of how their job supports the company’s initiatives and vision
  • job provides mental stimulation
  • opportunities for career growth/employee development
  • relationship with managers and team members
  • a sense of pride from being part of the company
