New SJH Hospice Inpatient Center Now Accepting Patients

BRIDGETON, NJ (June 27) –The Hospice Inpatient Center at the South Jersey Healthcare Bridgeton Health Center successfully completed the NJ Department of Health & Senior Services Survey on Monday, June 26, allowing the center to admit its first patients. The survey was completed on-site at the center to ensure compliance with state regulations, prior to issuance of a license and admission of patients.

With the opening of the Hospice Inpatient Center, SJH HospiceCare is now providing its comforting care in a warm, home-like environment, in an acute care setting. While HospiceCare will continue its 25 year commitment to home-based services, the Hospice Inpatient Center will allow HospiceCare to provide services at all levels of hospice care.

The SJH Hospice Inpatient Center provides an ideal care setting when patients need more care than can be managed in the home or when patients have intense symptom management needs, which family caregivers cannot provide. In some instances, patients may lose their home support systems due to family illnesses or injuries; or family caregivers may just need a brief respite from providing care. Others who might benefit include patients and families who need a brief transition period after hospitalization to prepare for the patient’s return to a home environment on hospice services.

The SJH Hospice Inpatient Center, located on the second floor of the SJH Bridgeton Health Center, is the first inpatient hospice center in New Jersey south of Camden County. The beautifully decorated center includes 10 private patient rooms; a kitchen and dining area; a library, a meditation room; a family room with a child play area; a family laundry room; and inroom and separate sleeping areas for family members to spend the night. 24-hour nursing care and daily physician visits are also provided.
