From dietary considerations and required medical tests to helpful lifestyle adjustments, it is important to make sure you are well-informed and ready for a successful surgery.

How Should I Prepare for Surgery?

Preparing for a surgery or medical procedure involves a well-coordinated effort between health care providers, the patient and the patient's support system. The process typically begins with a thorough consultation between you and your health care team, where you will discuss the associated risks and potential benefits of the procedure. You will also receive comprehensive pre-operative instructions, including guidelines on fasting, medication management and lifestyle adjustments.

Effective communication and collaboration between you and your health care team are paramount. This ensures that you feel supported and can actively participate in your recovery journey.

What to Expect On The Day of Your Surgery

On the day of surgery, the Inspira team will perform a pre-surgical assessment, checking your vital signs and making all necessary preparations. The care team will discuss anesthesia options and their potential effects. Then, you will meet with your surgeon to review the surgical plan and address any last-minute concerns.

Post-surgery, your level of care depends on the nature of the procedure. In the immediate recovery period, the surgical care team will monitor you closely in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). They will administer pain medication as needed and observe you for any signs of complications. When you are awake and alert, the team will give you instructions on post-operative care, including wound care, activity restrictions and medications.

Inspira will provide a follow-up plan for discharge, including scheduling appointments with your surgeon or primary care provider to monitor recovery progress. They can also address any concerns and adjust the post-operative care plan.
