What Puts Me at Risk for Vascular Disease?
Vascular disease affects your blood vessels and arteries. If you have high cholesterol, smoke, are not active or overweight, or have diabetes, you may be at increased risk. Your age and family history can also put you at risk for vascular disease.
One common vascular disease is called peripheral artery disease (PAD). PAD occurs when your blood vessels narrow and blood has a hard time flowing to your limbs. If left untreated, PAD can lead to the need for limb amputation.
