Inspira is a member of the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, offering its resident doctors a variety of opportunities for diverse, qualified experiences to enhance skills. Inspira’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program is dedicated to training residents in all areas of OB/GYN. Educational experiences will be available to students seeking a career as a generalist or any of the four subspecialties. Both Inspira Medical Center Woodbury and the Inspira Medical Center Vineland provide first-class maternity care in state of the art settings. Inspira Medical Center Vineland is equipped with a level IIIa Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; 24/7 Neonatology services provided through Nemours Dupont Pediatric Hospital with 24-hour in-house neonatologist coverage allowing delivery of infants 28 weeks and above that do not require neonatal surgery. Additionally we have 24-hour in house Anesthesia services. 24-hour in house Laborist services are provided by OBHG. The Labor and Delivery Unit has a designated 6-bed Obstetric Emergency Department and 10 delivery rooms. The majority of residency training occurs at the Inspira Medical Center Vineland. However, experiences will also be provided at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury, and Inspira Medical Center Elmer. Our hospitals offer cutting edge operating facilities, including the Da Vinci Xi robot with teaching console, at the Inspira Medical Center Vineland, as well as the Da Vinci Si robot at the Inspira Medical Center Woodbury. Additionally, residents have access to a state-of-the-art simulation lab with real-time simulation, life-like mannequin simulators, a laparoscopic simulator and advanced audio-visual technology. Gynecologic oncology training will also be offered at Cooper University Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey. At Inspira, the residents’ schedule is based on the recommendations for OB/GYN residency provided by the AOA Basic Standards for Postgraduate Training and the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOOG) as well as the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The residency is ACGME accredited. Following successful completion of the four-year program, participants will receive a resident certificate. It is our goal that participants completing the program will be qualified to practice general Obstetrics and Gynecology or pursue subspecialty training. PROGRAM DIRECTOR Dr. Michael Geria, D.O., M.S., F.A.C.O.O.G. Director of Medical Education Dr. Geria Graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a rotating internship and OB/GYN residency at UMDNJ-SOM Kennedy Memorial Hospital. He is actively involved in ACOOG, serving on the Board of Trustees and as President, as well as on numerous committees. He has been an examiner for the AOBOG for over 10 years. From 2007-2009 he was the program Director for the UMDNJ-SOM OB/GYN residency program. His areas of special interest are minimally invasive GYN surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
