Community Impact

The Inspira team strives to improve the health and well-being of our community every day. Here are some of the initiatives that made a difference to our community members in 2025.

Inspira’s Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) aims to gather valuable insights to improve community health by identifying needs, resources and gaps within our service area. The top regional barriers to health identified in the 2025-2027 CHNA include:

  • Cost of living
  • Cost and availability of health care
  • Chronic illnesses
  • Community connections and spaces
  • Administrative barriers

We are committed to addressing these top regional barriers through our Community Health Implementation Plan.

Our Substance Abuse Prevention program distributed 257 Naloxone kits to patients in emergency departments and 5,597 Deterra pouches for safe medication disposal. With the help of the Emergency Department Alternatives to Opioids Program (ED-ALTO) grant, our team worked to distribute alternatives to opioids for pain management in our hospital settings to reduce the likelihood of future opioid misuse. We announced a Substance Use Disorder program in partnership with Cooper University Health Care to address substance abuse in our surrounding community.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) connect members of our community to care coordination, transportation, healthy foods, housing, skill-building resources and more. CHWs connected 441 patients to community resources.

We provided 2,154 rides to appointments for cancer patients who identified transportation as a barrier through our Cancer Grant Transportation Program.

In late 2023, Inspira received a $1M federal grant through the OJJDP Byrne Discretionary Grant Program, launching the Cumberland County Youth Violence Cessation Initiative. This year marked the second summer of programming, made possible by the grant’s two-year funding and the collaborative efforts of all grantees.

Our Food Farmacy+ helps connect those experiencing food insecurity with nutrition and grocery resources. Project DASH, a DoorDash initiative, helps our organization bridge the food access gap by providing delivery logistics that bring healthy food directly to community members in need. From 2024 to 2025, the Food Farmacy+ more than doubled the number of households and individuals served and nearly quadrupled DoorDash deliveries. In 2025, the Food Farmacy+ assisted 6,133 patients across 2,173 households.

Patient Stories

Throughout the year, many of our grateful patients have shared their stories of care at Inspira. Here are a few highlights.

Kaitlyn and Matt Barnett

Kaitlyn and Matt Barnett were so impressed by the calm, skilled and compassionate care they received during their first child’s emergency C-section at Inspira that they chose to return for the birth of their second child. “During an incredibly stress-filled time, the team kept me informed and made me know that we were in the right place,” said Matt. “They helped me feel comfortable, almost relaxed. When we decided to have a second child, there was no question where we were going.”

Ron is walking better and is able to keep up the pace. We both enjoyed going to rehab. The program has truly made a difference in our health.”

Andrae Ames

After meeting Amy Mansue serendipitously at a community event, 42-year-old high school teacher Andrae Ames found the inspiration and support to undergo a life-changing sleeve gastrectomy at Inspira Health, losing over 230 pounds and regaining his mobility and vitality. “I am now available to everyone,” he said. “I can do anything. I was so limited physically before that I had to make a plan for everything, even minor tasks. It was exhausting. Now I can just get up and go. It’s the greatest feeling ever. Mentally, that is a weight off as well.”

In 2025, Inspira Health Foundation served as a vital bridge between generosity and care—transforming philanthropic support into meaningful improvements in patient outcomes, employee well-being and community health. Through the collective generosity of more than 2,100 donors, the Foundation raised more than $4.3 million to advance Inspira’s mission and respond to the most pressing needs across our region.

That $4 million became lifesaving equipment, expanded access to care, workforce support and critical resources for patients and families. With your contribution, we were able to fund technology like refrigerated centrifuges, launch new mental health resources for employees including crisis canines at employee wellness events and provide a more comfortable patient experience with blanket warmers.

We provided 750 meals to families in need on
Thanksgiving Day with the support of the Foundation.
