Recruitment Effort Strives to Attract Nearly 100 Providers in 2023

Amy Mansue

Hello and welcome to the February edition of Provider Inspiration

I’d like to start by recognizing Betty Sheridan, who is retiring at the end of this month, for her decades of service and dedication to Inspira. In her honor, we’ve launched the John F. Scarpa Nursing Scholarship Award to support our nurses and continue Betty’s legacy after her retirement.

One of our goals for 2023 is to expand provider recruitment and improve retention throughout the network. Our provider recruitment team is committed to bringing the highest quality providers to Inspira; in 2022, they successfully recruited 37 new physicians and advanced practice providers. We look forward to welcoming new team members and supporting current medical staff this year. Our plan is to add nearly 100 providers in 2023. A recent interview with our director of physician recruitment provides insight into this effort.

We’re also celebrating the cardiology team at Vineland, where they performed their 100th elective PCI procedure. Congratulations to the team for providing much-needed care to the region. As a network, our Vineland and Mullica Hill teams have now performed more than 320 elective PCIs.

Inspira is continuing to find ways to support individuals facing trauma, violence and environmental challenges in the South Jersey community. As such, we have secured two grants to help patients in the behavioral health space. The first is through the New Jersey Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program, which connects victims of community violence to services beginning at the hospital bedside.
Another grant will improve the support and safety of individuals and families in crisis that are facing opioid and substance abuse issues in Cumberland County. This initiative creates direct community collaboration between mental health professionals and police, and other emergency management providers. I want to thank the teams involved for their commitment to this important work that impacts our colleagues and our communities.

This month, we’re hearing from Dr. Tony Reed about the value of teamwork. We’re also celebrating the success of our Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) team in enhancing the patient experience by thoroughly evaluating the level of care each patient needs in a timely manner.

As always, be well and stay safe,
