Millville, NJ  – The New Jersey Department of Health has recognized Inspira Health for the fourth straight year (2019-2022) as a Gold Steward in its Antimicrobial Stewardship Recognition Program. The award highlights Inspira’s commitment to improve antibiotic use, advance patient safety and improve outcomes. By adopting best practices for assessing optimal antibiotic selection and dosing for each patient, Inspira’s care teams are focused on achieving the best outcomes for their patients who require antibiotics. This evidence-based thoughtful approach to prescribing also reduce the risk of creating antibiotic resistant bacteria.

The Antimicrobial Stewardship Recognition Program acknowledges health care facilities and physician practices that demonstrate they have met criteria established by the CDC for safe and effective use of antibiotics.

“The collective efforts of all health care facilities are crucial in safeguarding the effectiveness of antimicrobials for present and future generations,” said Amy B. Mansue, President and CEO of Inspira Health. “Through ongoing education, collaboration, and adherence to best practices, Inspira remains committed to being at the forefront of efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance and achieve the best possible outcomes for our patients.”

Inspira’s dedication to the healthy and appropriate use of antimicrobials includes best practices, such as:

  • Implementing long-acting, single-dose antibiotics to effectively treat skin infections to prevent hospital admissions and readmissions
  • Creating tailored treatment pathways for numerous infectious diseases, ensuring comprehensive and effective care for every patient
  • Adopting a multidisciplinary approach to assess the most effective dosage and treatment duration for each patient
