2017 Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital Award underscores Inspira Health Network’s commitment to patient safety and quality care

VINELAND, NJ (December 7, 2017) – Inspira Medical Center Vineland, part of the Inspira Health Network, has been recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a Top Teaching Hospital. Widely recognized as one of the most competitive hospital distinctions in the U.S., this honor further validates Inspira’s excellence in patient safety, quality and overall experience.

Only 36 hospitals in the country were recognized as a Top Teaching Hospital this year. With seven residency and three fellowship programs, Inspira Medical Center Vineland helps young doctors acquire skill sets to allow them to heal and comfort patients on their own. Inspira Health Network works closely with Rowan University and its medical school to offer new opportunities to its students, and in turn, sees the benefit to the community from some graduates of residency programs choosing to join a local South Jersey practice.

“At Inspira, we believe that two-way learning between residents and our experienced physicians is instrumental in exploring new ways to approach patient care. Our residents bring an intellectual curiosity that enhances quality care,” said Elizabeth Sheridan, Chief Operating Officer at Inspira Medical Center Vineland. “Being recognized as a top teaching hospital by Leapfrog confirms and exemplifies the exceptional care our physicians, nurses and staff provide to every patient.

“I want to thank the entire Vineland team for their continued service and congratulate them on this well-deserved honor,” Sheridan added.
The highest performing hospitals, including Inspira Medical Center Vineland, are recognized for meeting the rigorous standards defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology. Qualified hospitals demonstrate high performance in maternity care, medication error prevention, and lower infection rates.

“We are proud to recognize Inspira Medical Center Vineland as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital. This demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.

To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2017 Top Hospitals, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.

Inspira Medical Center Vineland earned an A rating, along with Inspira Medical Centers Elmer and Woodbury, on the last three Leapfrog Hosital Safety Grade reports.
