Menopause can be an uncomfortable transition for women as they reach the end of their reproductive years.
The average American woman enters menopause at 52 when the ovaries no longer release an egg each month. A woman is considered to have entered menopause once she goes through a year without a menstrual period.
During menopause, as well as during the months or years leading up to it called perimenopause, women may experience irregular periods, vaginal dryness, bladder problems, bone loss, breast tenderness and migraines, among other symptoms.
