MAJOR FUNCTION:
Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services to clients and companies. Will manage acute and chronic conditions, provide education and disease prevention. In addition, provide preoperative and postoperative instructions on surgery planning/preoperative preparation/postoperative precautions and expectations. Triage patient calls during and after the business hours.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of PA and certified for practicing PA in NJ.
Certification/Licensure:
- Certified for Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current registration with NJ State Board of PA.
- BLS certification, ACLS preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
- High quality PA competence and advanced leadership skills.

Performs a physical examination based on age and history:
- Obtains a relevant health and medical history.
- Conducts preventive screening procedures based on age and history.
- Identifies medical and health risks and needs.
- Updates and records change in health status.
- Identifies needs of the individual, family or community as a result of the evaluation of the collected data.
Formulates the appropriate therapeutic regimens:
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
- Contributes to physician’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary to deliberations; recommending options and course of action; implementing physician directives.
- Priorities are established and a mutually acceptable plan of care is devised to maximize the health potential of the individual, family, or community.
- Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
- Making appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies.
Providing relevant patient education:
- Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
Accurately conducting and interpreting diagnostic Tests:
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies.
- Interprets results of tests performed or ordered.
Accurate Documentation of Client Status and Care:
- Documents patient care services by charting in EMR and other clinical systems.
Responsibility as Client Advocate:
- The Physician’s Assistant interprets their role to individuals, families, and other health professionals.
- As an advocate, participates in health policy activities at the local, state, and national levels.
Quality Assurance:
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
- Participation in quality assurance reviews on a periodic basis, including systematic review of records and treatment plans.
- Maintenance professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experiential growth opportunities.
- Maintenance of certification in compliance with current laws.
Compliance:
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
