MAJOR FUNCTION:
Conducts Department Specific orientation for ALS providers covering both cognitive and psychomotor objectives. Responsible to evaluate and maintain the efficacy of ALS training through field observation and monitoring. Evaluate ALS training needs through staff interaction and field monitoring. Spends time in the field observing and training staff and students. Provides instruction and remediation to ALS providers both in field and in classroom settings. Manages the ALS quality assurance program. Interacts with and directs ALS preceptors in conjunction with operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience in quality assurance (Desired).
- Five years or more field experience as a 9-1-1 Paramedic.
Certification/ Licensure:
- Current certification as a NJ Paramedic, or MICN.
- Current AHA CPR Instructor Certification or
- Current AHA ACLS Instructor Certification or
- Current AHA PALS Instructor Certification or must obtain it within 6 months of hire.

Position Responsibilities
Provided department specific orientation to new ALS hires.
Provides remediation to ALS providers when needed.
Evaluates ALS employees to ensure minimum cognitive and psychomotor skills are present.
Develops and conducts ALS CEU programs. Manages the ALS quality assurance program.
Assists with the review and development of clinical policies and procedures for the ALS service lines. Reviews new products for suitability of field use.
Evaluate ALS training needs through staff interaction and field monitoring.
Provides field training and staff follow-up at stations and remote locations when appropriate.
Manages ALS students and the clinical portion of the ALS training program in conjunction with didactic training sites.
Spends time on ALS units providing feedback and remediation. Develops and assists with the instruction of ALS CEU classes and ALS programs as authorized. Any other duties as assigned.
Oversees the ALS Quality Assurance (QA) process within the department's electronic documentation platform, ensuring compliance with state regulations, clinical protocols, documentation standards, and organizational policies through comprehensive chart review, provider feedback, and ongoing performance monitoring.
