Patient Turns to Inspira Rehab Services for Pain Relief and Mobility

When Paul Maurice needed surgery to repair an ankle injury in 2023, his surgeon wanted to first have the swelling (lymphedema) in his leg reduced. He was referred to Inspira vascular surgeon, Holly Graves, M.D.

Dr. Graves saw Paul and, with a goal of relieving his pain, increasing his mobility and preparing him for surgery, referred him to Inspira physical therapist and lymphedema specialist, Jamie Miller, P.T., at Inspira Rehabilitation Services Mullica Hill.

Paul said he knew he was in the right place as soon as he arrived for his first treatment.

“Her personality was a ‘10 plus’ right from the start,” said Paul, a retired firefighter and retail store worker who lives in Lindenwold. “I didn’t really even know what a lymphedema specialist did, but Jamie explained everything so well. If she used a term I didn’t know, she’d stop and make sure I understood.”

Paul said that the environment at the rehab center was surprising to him - and not what he expected in a medical facility.

“Jamie played music while she treated me. She got me upbeat about the whole experience. She would wrap my leg and do what she needed to do, but she talked to me the whole time. She asked about my time in the fire service. The conversations were incredible to me.”

After his surgery in late 2023, Paul continued to see Jamie till mid 2025 so she could continue to treat his lymphedema. 

“I was seeing Jamie three times a week right after the surgery to reduce swelling again,” Paul said. “Anything I needed; she would get it. There was never any hassle. Her personality, professionalism, and bedside manner are par excellence! I got straightforward answers every time I asked a question. No sugarcoating. My surgeon was so impressed he said he is going to refer more patients to her and Inspira.”

Paul was so satisfied with his experience that he is going to continue to get his physical therapy treatments at Inspira to strengthen a hip that has been bothering him. 

“I’m going to Inspira in Mullica Hill for my PT,” he said. 

He said that the care he’s received at Inspira has improved many things about his daily life.

“I can walk around the house and down the driveway now,” Paul said. “I couldn’t do that before. I can lie in bed or drive my truck and there’s no pain anymore. I’m getting much more stable on my feet and I am looking forward to walking around at the next fire convention instead of using a scooter.”
