Representatives from Inspira Health, Gloucester County and the Borough of Clayton cut the ribbon on the new Inspira Health Clayton EMS Station. Located on North Delsea Drive, the station will serve as home base for both basic and advanced life support personnel, including emergency medical technicians and paramedics.
With the move to this new location, Inspira Emergency Medical Services is better positioned to provide coverage to all of Gloucester County as well as parts of Salem County. Prior to the move, Inspira EMS served this region from a facility in Franklinville. Additionally, Inspira has put a new unit in service in Cumberland County to enhance coverage there. The building that houses the new Inspira Clayton EMS Station was formerly used by Gloucester County EMS.
"This new Inspira location illustrates our commitment to provide responsive and efficient EMS services to all the communities we serve," said Amy Mansue, president and CEO of Inspira Health. "We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the families of Gloucester County and to work with the elected officials and the leaders of the police, fire and OEM teams. Special thanks to Gloucester County Commission Director Frank DiMarco and Chief Andy Lovell of Gloucester County EMS for their assistance. We thank all of you for the warm welcome."
"We are grateful to Commission Director Frank DiMarco and Commission Liaison Denice DiCarlo for suggesting our ambulance building become a hub for Inspira Health,” said Mayor Thomas Bianco of Clayton Borough. “Inspira transformed the building into an updated and efficient response station at no cost to our Borough. With response times being critical in emergency situations, we are glad to have emergency medical personnel who can provide advanced life support care in such close proximity to our residents, especially our senior residents."
Although the move from Franklinville to Clayton is just a little over four miles, the new location places the EMS squad closer to larger population centers, while still being in close proximity to Franklinville and surrounding towns.
Inspira EMS currently provides services in six South Jersey counties and has been serving residents of Gloucester County since 1979. With enhanced training and education requirements; increasing equipment costs; and changes in the delivery of emergency medical services it has become financially and logistically difficult for many municipalities to maintain their own EMS squads. As part of a leading regional community health system, Inspira EMS is able to grow to meet community needs for these life-saving services.
