Evaluates participants level of function to establish treatment programs to prevent disability by helping participants to maintain and/or restore physical potential by means of such modalities as training, exercise, orthotics, and assistive devices. Furthers the efforts of Occupational Therapy programs by planning educational services for other health care personnel. Conducts initial assessments and periodic reassessments, plan of care, coordination of 24-hour care delivery, regularly informing the interdisciplinary team (IDT) of the medical, functional, and psychosocial condition of each participant, remaining alert to pertinent input from other team members, participants caregivers, as well as documenting changes in a participant’s medical record consistent with documentation policies. May need to provide position support at another Inspira LIFE Center due to operational need.
As a multisite provider of PACE community-based services for seniors in Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties, an Inspira LIFE employee may work at either or both the Vineland or Williamstown LIFE Program as census changes or operational needs occur to meet the needs of our participants.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years working as an Occupational Therapist.
- Minimum of 1 year working with the frail or elderly.
Certification/Licensure:
- Current New Jersey Occupational Therapy license.
- Certification with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Knowledge & Skills:
- Ability to evaluate, plan and implement a program of purposeful activities to develop or maintain functional skills necessary to achieve the maximal physical or mental functioning, or both, of the individual in his daily occupational performance and the promotion of wellness.
- Demonstrated clinical skills reflecting knowledge of resources and basic treatment skills in the following areas: activities of daily evaluation; adaptive equipment, orthotics design and application; upper motor neuron disease; rheumatology; sensory-motor integration disorders; and the adaptation of physical environments for the handicapped.
- Supervisory, leadership and management skills.
- Good judgment, problem-solving and cognitive skills.
- Knowledge of gerontology and enthusiasm for treating the geriatric population.
- Patience and strong interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards in the home and improvements to establish a safer environment.
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a community-based setting.
