Below are the general recommendations for preventive care in each age group. 20's - 30's

Yearly:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Depression Screening
  • Dental Exam (Discuss with Dentist)
  • Discuss cholesterol, diabetes and risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections including HIV

35+:

  • Cholesterol Every 5 Years
  • Discuss recommended vaccinations such as HPV, tetanus, whooping cough & flu

Every 5-10 Years:

  • Vision Screening (more often for high-risk)

40's

Yearly:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Depression Screening
  • Dental Exam (Discuss with Dentist)
  • Discuss risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections including HIV

45+

  • Discuss prostate screenings
  • Discuss recommended vaccinations such as HPV, tetanus, whooping cough & flu

Every 3 Years:

  • Diabetes Screening
  • Vision Screening (2-4 years, more often for high-risk)

Every 5 Years:

  • Cholesterol Screening
  • Colorectal Cancer Screening (depending on test)

50's

Yearly:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Depression Screening
  • Dental Exam (Discuss with Dentist)
  • Hepatitis C (if born between 1945-1965)
  • Discuss Prostate Cancer Screenings and risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections including HIV

55+:

  • Discuss Lung Cancer Screening (if current or previous pack a day smoker)
  • Discuss recommended vaccinations such as pneumonia, shingles, tetanus, whooping cough & flu

Every 3 Years:

  • Diabetes Screening

Every 5 Years:

  • Cholesterol Screening

Every 10 Years:

  • Colorectal Cancer Screening: Colonoscopy

60's

Yearly:

  • Blood Pressure
  • Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Depression Screening Fall Prevention
  • Vision Screening (every 1-2 years)
  • Dental Exam (Discuss with Dentist)
  • Hepatitis C (if born between 1945-1965)
  • Discuss Prostate Cancer Screenings and risk of Sexually Transmitted Infections including HIV

55 - 74+:

  • Discuss Lung Cancer Screening (if current or previous pack a day smoker)

65 - 75+:

  • If Never Smoked: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening (once)
  • Discuss recommended vaccinations such as pneumonia, shingles, tetanus, whooping cough & flu

Every 3 Years:

  • Diabetes Screening

Every 5 Years:

  • Cholesterol Screening

Every 10 Years:

  • Colorectal Cancer Screening (depending on test)
  • 76+: Discuss if needed | 85+: Not recommended
