ELMER, NJ (August 31, 2026) The Emergency Department at Inspira Medical Center Elmer has earned national recognition for nursing excellence and innovation for the fourth time since 2011. Presented by the Emergency Nurses Association, the 2026 Lantern Award demonstrates what's possible when emergency nurses lead with purpose, innovation and a relentless commitment to excellence. The Elmer ED team also earned this award in 2011, 2018 and 2021.
"I'm incredibly proud of the emergency department team at Inspira Elmer," said Sherry Remy, DNP, MSN, RN, CEN, Vice President of Emergency Services, Inspira Health. "Their unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and desire to provide the best care possible to each patient is inspiring. Their professionalism and compassion have a positive impact on the lives of our patients every day."
This prestigious recognition from the ENA serves as a national benchmark for emergency departments that demonstrate exceptional and innovative leadership, clinical practice, education, advocacy and research. Recipients are selected through a rigorous application process that includes both quantitative and qualitative assessments of the department’s performance and initiatives.
To be considered for a Lantern, departments must submit a comprehensive application which measures the ways they excel at meeting challenges that range from ED boarding to lowering the time it takes for stroke patients to receive care to improving pediatric readiness or enhancing nurse professional development. A committee scores applications to determine which EDs will receive the award.
