Inspira Health Opens Expanded Maternity Unit at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill

Aug 17, 2026

Mullica Hill, NJ (August 17, 2026) – Inspira Health today announced the opening of its expanded maternity unit at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill, marking a major milestone in the health system’s broader campus expansion and its continued investment in care for growing families across South Jersey.

The expanded unit increases capacity for maternity patients and provides an environment designed to support families through labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care. The project doubles the size of the hospital’s maternity area to approximately 36,000 square feet and increases staffed maternity beds from 20 to 38, helping Inspira meet rising demand from expectant parents in South Jersey.

“Opening this expanded maternity unit is an important step forward for families across South Jersey and for the future of Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill,” said Lydia Stockman, Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Inspira Health. “More families are choosing Inspira to welcome their babies, and this investment gives our teams the space, capacity and flexibility to meet that demand while continuing to provide high-quality care close to home.”

The expanded maternity unit supports a dedicated flow from arrival through delivery and recovery. Families will continue to receive the same compassionate, high-quality maternity care they know from Inspira, now in a larger setting designed to better support patients, newborns, loved ones and clinical teams.

“The expanded unit provides our Maternal Child Health team with an enhanced care environment that matches the level of care families already know and trust at Mullica Hill,” said Christi Dooley, AVP Maternal Child Health. “Families can expect a clear, supportive experience from arrival through delivery and postpartum care, with spaces designed to support privacy, communication and the many needs of parents and newborns. While the space is new, our commitment to safe, compassionate and personalized maternity care remains the same.”

The maternity expansion is part of Inspira’s larger $257 million expansion and renovation of Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. In addition to the maternity overbuild adjacent to the hospital’s main entrance, the project includes the full development of a new 150,000-square-foot, five-story tower; increased surgical and intensive care capacity; expanded space for clinical education and residency programs; renovation of existing areas; and additional parking.

Since the expansion began, Inspira has broadened the project’s scope to fully develop the five-story tower rather than hold space in reserve. The expanded plans include an additional 32-bed surgical unit, additional intensive care capacity, and specialized neuro ICU resources to support Inspira’s growing neuroscience partnership with Cooper University Health Care. Once complete, the project is expected to add 86 beds, increasing the hospital’s licensed bed count to 296, and add a 24-bed observation unit to improve patient flow and reduce emergency department boarding.

The new five-story tower is expected to begin patient care in early 2027, followed by additional renovations to existing hospital space for clinical, dining and pharmacy services. Together, these investments are designed to strengthen Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill’s ability to meet increasing demand, expand advanced services and improve access to care for patients throughout the region.
