Read MoreVineland, NJ – Inspira Health, a regional leader in health care innovation, has brought new climate-controlled beds and sophisticated IV pumps online in the Deborah F. Sager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Inspira Medical Center Vineland. With more than $300,000 from the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund appropriated for the new state-of-the-art beds, pumps, and additional equipment, this purchase is the largest use of the fund to date. A generous $30,000 donation to the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund from The Wawa Foundation helped support the purchase.
“Thank you to the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund and The Wawa Foundation for this generous donation. These funds will allow us to further our mission of providing convenient, high-quality care close to home,” said Elizabeth Sheridan, Chief Operating Officer, Inspira Medical Centers Elmer and Vineland. “When a baby is admitted to the NICU, the joys of parenthood can sometimes be tempered by feeling overwhelmed with decision-making and worry for the well-being of their child. These new, state-of-the-art beds and pumps, coupled with our extraordinary care teams, will provide comfort to parents and their newborns throughout their stay at our Vineland NICU.”
The new equipment will provide optimal comfort and the latest safety technology for babies who require the often-complex intensive care provided by the NICU team. The new Giraffe OmniBed Carestations are enclosed temperature-controlled beds for very small pre-term babies. This design creates a seamless protected micro-environment for peaceful, fast healing. In addition, the new carestations will allow parents and caregivers the ability to watch and supervise infant activities while reducing the need to remove the infant from the bed.
The new Medfusion Wireless Syringe Infusion Pumps provide an extra layer of safety to confirm critical infusion-related settings to ensure reliable and accurate medication delivery.
“The mission of the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund is to provide funds for critical equipment and services for neonatal, newborn care and pediatrics at Inspira,” said Penny Sager-Rossi, founder, Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund. “All donations to the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund remain in perpetuity and the earnings are utilized to enable the team of professionals at Inspira to provide the best care possible right here at home. With the support of individuals and community partners like the Wawa Foundation, the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund can help create a ‘pathway to miracles’ for these vulnerable infants.”
Since 2019, The Wawa Foundation has contributed $60,000 to the Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund, and an additional $25,000 to Inspira’s Capital Campaign.
“Wawa’s history is based on a commitment of giving back to the community, aligning with our mission to improve the lives of all we serve,” said Amy Mansue, President & CEO of Inspira Health. “We are grateful for their support and for their long-standing commitment to southern New Jersey.”
“The Wawa Foundation is committed to building stronger communities,” said Lori Bruce, Grant Committee Chairperson, The Wawa Foundation. “That includes providing support to organizations, such as Inspira and its Deborah F. Sager Memorial Fund, who are committed to championing children’s health and life-saving research, leading hunger relief efforts and supporting the heroes who make a difference every day. We are proud to partner with Inspira and support their mission to continuously enhance life-saving care to infants in South Jersey.”
