Mullica Hill, NJ (January 27, 2026) – Inspira Health is proud to announce Inspira Medical Centers Mullica Hill and Vineland have been reaccredited as Comprehensive Centers by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a program championed by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) in partnership with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
This national recognition underscores Inspira’s commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care for individuals living with obesity. The reaccreditation also honors Inspira for providing detailed and inclusive counseling on both surgical and non-surgical options in a patient-focused approach. Inspira Vineland first received accreditation in 2006 and has been providing comprehensive bariatric surgery services for over 20 years. Inspira Mullica Hill first received accreditation in 2022, and this marks the second time the facility has received this designation.
To achieve MBSAQIP reaccreditation, Inspira successfully completed a rigorous review process that included a comprehensive pre-review questionnaire, independent site visits by an experienced bariatric surgeon, and ongoing reporting of patient outcomes to the MBSAQIP. During the site visits, Inspira’s program structure, processes, and clinical outcomes were evaluated and met national standards for staffing, training, infrastructure, and care pathways, ensuring the best possible outcomes for all patients.
“This recognition reflects the vitality of dedicated, comprehensive teams in bariatric care—surgeons, nurses, dietitians, educators and navigators—who partner with patients at every step of their weight loss and health journeys,” said Lydia Stockman, Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Inspira Medical Centers. “Their focus on safety, quality, and compassionate care embodies Inspira’s mission to deliver exceptional patient outcomes for everyone who walks through our doors.”
In addition to the Comprehensive Center designation, MBSAQIP has recognized three Inspira surgeons as Verified MBSAQIP Surgeons: Charles McCann, M.D.; Ahmed Attia, D.O., Director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at Inspira Medical Center Vineland; and Christopher Bashian, D.O., Director of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill. This verification acknowledges each surgeon’s extensive clinical experience, continued education, and commitment to quality improvement.
This esteemed recognition not only highlights Inspira’s excellence in bariatric care but also sets the stage for ongoing advancements in patient support and surgical quality. With this reaccreditation, Inspira is poised to continually provide top-tier weight loss services to patients, like Andrae Ames.
For Andrae, a New Jersey high school music teacher and track coach, a chance meeting with Inspira President and CEO, Amy Mansue, sparked a life-changing journey. “She said, ‘The kids need you.’ and that really hit home,” Ames recalled. The serendipitous encounter led Mansue to connect him with Inspira’s bariatric team, including Dr. Bashian; Program Coordinator Bradee Rojas, M.S.; and Outpatient Dietitian, Gayle Gasparon, R.D.N. With his newfound determination and the Inspira team behind him, Ames said, “I know I can do this.” After undergoing a sleeve gastrectomy, Ames lost 230 pounds and recently met with Mansue in an emotional reunion (read and watch here).
