GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ (February 14, 2017) – Inspira Health Network has announced plans to soon offer area patients access to advanced radiation therapy for cancer care in Gloucester County. The network plans to open the new radiation therapy center on its Woodbury campus in the spring of 2017.

“Inspira has been providing high quality radiation oncology services to patients in South Jersey for more than 35 years and we are pleased to be able to expand our program to a brand new facility on our Woodbury campus,” said Patrick Nolan, chief operating officer at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury. “We know how important it is for people in our community who are actively seeking cancer treatment to have advanced care right here in their own backyard. This new facility will provide them with state-of-the-art care that is close to home and in a unique and healing environment.”

The one-of-a kind, 6,000 square foot facility is the first treatment center to offer SmartVue™ Natural Light Solution, providing patients with a new radiation treatment experience that eliminates the claustrophobic confines of the typical linear accelerator treatment room by bringing the outdoors into the room. The SmartVue™ window allows natural light directly into the room, providing the patient with a beautiful, uplifting view of an outside garden before and after the treatment process.

“This groundbreaking new system adds an outside view to the treatment room without affecting the integrity of the surrounding radiation shielding,” said Mario Sergi, director of Medical Imaging, Radiation Oncology, and Oncology Data Services at Inspira. “By combining state-of-the-art radiation therapy equipment with a unique healing environment, our experienced therapists and staff will be able to offer patients in the region with a new approach to cancer treatment.”

Inspira’s board certified radiation therapists and physicians will provide patients with ultra-precise treatment through a new state-of-the-art Varian VitalBeam™ linear accelerator. The new radiotherapy system possesses the latest treatment benefits for patients, including 3D mapping for precise tumor location, higher radiation doses and reduced damage to healthy tissue.

Inspira is working with Saphire + Albarran Architecture in Pennington, New Jersey and Veritas Medical Solutions in Harleysville, Pennsylvania on the development of the center which will be located across from Inspira Medical Center Woodbury on Oak Street.

Inspira’s radiation oncology program at the Frank and Edith Scarpa Regional Cancer Pavilion in Vineland has been accredited in radiation oncology by the American College of Radiology since 1998, when it became one of the first programs in the state to earn the distinction.
