Tim Adams, 62, of Pitman, didn’t know what exactly was wrong with his right shoulder, he just knew it had bothered him for months and his range of motion was getting worse.
“I had trouble reaching up over my head or behind my back,” Tim said. “You don’t realize how much you use your shoulder for daily activities until it starts to hurt. But, like a typical guy, I waited too long to get it checked out.”
Lucky for him, he says, the physical therapy team at Inspira Rehabilitation Services Mullica Hill, knew exactly what to do. Tim’s Inspira primary care physician, Steven Meskin, M.D., ordered diagnostic imaging and then recommended physical therapy.
The Inspira team helped him get back to his normal daily activities in less time than he expected, about ten weeks.
Tim, a retired customer relationship manager for a Philadelphia-based company of over 4000 employees, was so pleased with his experience as a patient in the last months of 2024, that he sent an email to Inspira that read, in part,
“I finished physical therapy on my shoulder right before Christmas and wanted to remark on what a positive experience it was. Everyone, from Beth [Kain] at the front desk to all the therapists I had the pleasure to work with, was excellent! Even the PT student who worked alongside the therapist with me was exceptional.”
Tim said all the members of his team, including physical therapists, Samantha (Sam) Carty, Nicole Francis, Nikki Taylo, Joseph Donegan, and Staci Wenger were outstanding. But he was especially impressed by Donegan and Carty, with whom he worked most often.
“I had never had physical therapy before, so I didn’t know what to expect. Joe evaluated me, showed me how much range of motion I’d lost, and started me off slowly with exercises. He impressed the heck out of me.”
“While all the staff was great, Sam stood out. She was amazing. Her bedside manner is top notch and her understanding of the human body is extraordinary. She goes above and beyond just the medical side of things. She really was born to help people.”
Tim said that even when Sam wasn’t working with him directly, he saw her comfort, instruct and encourage other patients.
“I watched her motivate each and every patient with kindness, positivity, and professionalism! I’d highly recommend her to anyone needing physical therapy. I spent the last 15 years of my career leading a large organization in customer relationship management and I recognize a shining star when I see one.”
Tim said that his shoulder has regained a great deal of range of motion and strength.
“I can do everything now!”
He said if he needs physical therapy again, he will ask to be referred to Inspira Rehabilitation Services Mullica Hill.
