Our Commitment to DEIB

Strengthening our commitment to DEIB is a key enabler of improved patient and employee experiences as well as community health outcomes. In 2023 we partnered with an outside vendor to help us complete a comprehensive assessment of our current DEIB landscape through employee surveys, interviews and focus groups. We reached over 1,000 employees and with their input, along with input from our DEIB Employee Council, we set goals and priorities for the next phase of this work.

Inspira’s current DEIB initiatives and goals include:

  • Celebrating and respecting differences
  • Identifying health equity baselines and targets in our community
  • Creating and rolling out a system-wide screening tool for social drivers of health
  • Rolling out a foundational DEIB training program for staff using a “Train the Trainer” model
  • Launching employee resource groups
  • Creating space for employee and community voices to be heard

We look forward to strengthening our commitment to DEIB by continuing to enhance the employee and patient experience and improve the health and well-being of our community.

Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Questions at Registration

As part of our efforts to create a safe, diverse and supportive environment for our staff and the communities we serve, Inspira collects sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data to better understand our patient population and develop care plans that address each individual’s unique needs.

When registering as a patient, you will be asked to respond to questions regarding SOGI in compliance with state laws requiring this data collection. We place our patients and employees at the center of all we do and, therefore, we have a responsibility to provide safe care and a supportive, inclusive environment for all who enter our facilities. The collection of SOGI data allows us to learn about the populations we serve and measure the access to and quality of care provided to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
