All three medical centers have also been honored by the Greater Philadelphia Business Coalition on Health (GPBCH) with its 2023 GPBCH Regional Quality and Safety Award.
The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“Our commitment to safety and quality is what unites us at Inspira Health,” said Amy Mansue, president and CEO of Inspira Health. “Thank you to The Leapfrog Group and the GPBCH for recognizing our team’s ongoing efforts and dedication to achieving the highest standards of patient, visitor, and staff safety. Each recognition further drives us to continuously elevate our organization, inspiring and empowering healthier communities and fellow health care organizations."
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
“Everyone who works at Inspira Medical Centers Elmer, Mullica Hill and Vineland should be proud of this ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It takes complete dedication at every level and an ironclad commitment to putting patients first. I thank the leadership, clinicians, staff, and volunteers for caring so deeply for their patients and their safety.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades are a highly reputable, national benchmark, which is leveraged for additional award programs by other organizations including regional coalitions. As such, the GPBCH is recognizing the following Inspira facilities for performance excellence in quality and safety: Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill (General); Inspira Medical Center Vineland (General); and Inspira Medical Center Elmer (Maternity). The GPBCH Regional Quality and Safety Hospital Award is based on the 2023 Leapfrog Hospital Survey and 2023 Leapfrog Safety Grades. As of April 16, 2024, the midwifery program at Inspira’s Elmer Hospital relocated to Mullica Hill, where the team continues to provide excellence in safety and quality to patients.
“At Inspira Health, we constantly strive to provide a safe, high-quality experience for our patients, their families and our community,” said Tony Reed, Senior Vice President, Chief Quality, Safety and Experience Officer, Inspira Health. “We are proud to receive recognition from national and regional organizations who are focused on patient safety and clinical quality. Across all our facilities, Inspira remains steadfast in driving clinical and service excellence for all.”

Founded in 2000 by large employers and other purchasers, The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization driving a movement for giant leaps for patient safety. The flagship Leapfrog Hospital Survey and Leapfrog Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Survey collect and transparently report hospital and ASC performance, empowering purchasers to find the highest-value care and giving consumers the lifesaving information they need to make informed decisions. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, Leapfrog's other main initiative, assigns letter grades to hospitals based on their record of patient safety, helping consumers protect themselves and their families from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.
