Our Year in Review: Celebrating Inspira Health’s Top 20 Moments of 2022

Jan 2, 2023

Top 20 Moments of 2022

  • With more than 200 locations in South Jersey, we celebrated the opening of 7 new locations this year.
  • We welcomed Salem Medical Center, an affiliate of Inspira Health, to our network.
  • We brought minimally invasive robotic spine surgery to our hospitals in Mullica Hill and Vineland.
  • We continued to elevate cardiac care in South Jersey, performing more than 450 Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) procedures this year, nearly 300 of them electively. Inspira Medical Center Vineland received its license to perform elective procedures in June and Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill celebrated its 100th elective PCI procedure in July.
  • We raised the bar in early lung cancer detection and treatment, with more than 1,000 low-dose CT scans, and more than 100 navigational bronchoscopy procedures at our hospitals in Mullica Hill and Vineland. Besides being highly accurate and reducing the need for more invasive or repeated diagnostic procedures, navigational bronchoscopy has shown to reduce complications. These can include infection, bleeding, pain, and false diagnoses (whether negative or positive) which can arise from traditional, more invasive approaches.
  • More than 150 cancer patients participated in clinical studies this year.
  • We celebrated 10 years of the Deborah F. Sager Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Inspira Medical Center Vineland. More than 250 babies were cared for in the NICU in 2022.
  • There were more than 3,000 births at our maternity centers in Elmer, Mullica Hill and Vineland.
  • There were more than 71,000 EMS dispatches and more than 157,000 emergency room visits across our network.
  • There were over 25,000 hospital admissions to our hospitals in Elmer, Mullica Hill and Vineland.
  • 277 volunteers donated more than 30,000 hours to support Inspira Health.
  • We hosted or participated in more than 100 community events this year.
  • We were named a 2022 Top Workplace in New Jersey
  • More than 1,4000 new employees joined the Inspira Health family this year—40 of them were new providers.
  • 234 medical residents and fellows trained at Inspira this year.
    • General surgery resident Bismarck Osumo, MD, was born and raised in Kenya, and shared how being a part of Inspira has impacted him. “As a smaller community program in a rural area, you tend to see patients who may not have insurance, or may have a lot of medical problems. This is very sentimental to me because I didn't grow up with the best or most accessible health care back home. Being a part of a program like this here at Inspira, one that is bringing accessible health care to the community, is something I am very willing to participate in,” he said.
    • Family medicine resident, Jessa Hernandez, MD, reflected on her ability to give back to the community she grew up in and looks forward to her future with Inspira. “I see Inspira growing in the future, not only in the number of locations that are available, but also in the number of residencies that they can offer and the amount of education and training we can provide. Inspira has a lot to offer us. I would love to see new residency programs that will teach even more upcoming physicians to be the best physicians that they can be,” she said.
  • More than 100 providers received regional honors this year from a variety of publications including, SJ Magazine, South Jersey Magazine, Philadelphia Magazine, Jersey’s Best Magazine and New Jersey Monthly
  • We earned two 2022 Women’s Choice Awards, Inspira Medical Center Elmer for orthopedics and Inspira Women’s Imaging Center Vineland for mammography.
  • Inspira Medical Centers Elmer, Mullica Hill, and Vineland were nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as High Performing Hospitals across a variety of care areas, including Stroke, Diabetes, Heart and Kidney Failure and COPD.
  • Inspira Medical Centers Elmer, Mullica Hill, and Vineland each received an “A” for the Fall 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. This national distinction recognizes these hospitals’ achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error.
  • More than $1 million was raised through Inspira Health Foundation events to support our communities.
