We’ve all had a similar thought as we cruise down the snack aisle in the grocery store: If I buy low-fat cookies, chips and crackers, I can eat more of them. But that mentality may not serve you in the end.
At Inspira Health, we understand the mental, physical and emotional transformations that take place after bariatric surgery. Adjusting to your new lifestyle is exciting, challenging and, at times, frustrating, which is why we’ve created several support groups for bariatric surgery patients to connect with their peers as they navigate the ups and downs of recovery.
Inspira offers two different support groups for post-op patients:
New Beginnings Bariatric Support Group
The goal of this group is to support, mentor, encourage and educate patients who are in the pre-operative phase of their bariatric surgery journey. Diet, exercise, emotional issues and preparing for life changes will be topics for discussion. Patient input is encouraged and welcome.
Topics covered during these sessions include, but are not limited to:
- Healthy eating
- Changing habits
- Emotional issues
- Exercise
- And preparing for new life changes
*Registration for New Beginnings Bariatric Support group is required for ALL pre-surgical patients
Bariatric Graduate Support Group
The goal of this group is to support, mentor, encourage and share knowledge and experiences among patients who have undergone bariatric surgery. The general focus is on weight management, exercise after bariatric surgery, building and maintaining healthy meal planning/nutritional habits, and managing possible emotional issues. Patient input is encouraged and welcome
