Our fellowship prepares future leaders in sports medicine to advance patient care for athletes and active individuals. 

The Sports Medicine Fellowship at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill is a one-year training program that provides extensive clinical, academic and research experience in sports medicine. Fellows work closely with an interdisciplinary team that includes sports medicine specialists, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists and athletic trainers, creating a highly collaborative learning environment. 

The program is open to M.D. and D.O. graduates from Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine programs. Graduates receive a Sports Medicine Fellowship Certificate upon completion.

Through specialty rotations, continuity clinics, event coverage and scholarly activity, fellows build focused experience in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries. 

The program’s affiliation with Premier Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Associates further enhances clinical exposure and mentorship opportunities. 

Curriculum

The Sports Medicine Fellowship offers a focused curriculum that supports clinical growth, interdisciplinary learning and scholarly development.  

Our mission is to train the next generation of leaders in sports medicine by delivering exceptional clinical training, fostering research and promoting education focused on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries. 

 

Rotations in Clinical Practice  

Fellows gain broad exposure through core experiences and specialty rotations, including:

  • Sports Medicine Clinic
  • Hand Orthopedics
  • Orthopedic Spine
  • Physical Therapy
  • Radiology
  • Continuity Clinic within the fellow’s primary specialty
  • Coverage of major sporting events and mass-participation events 

These experiences provide fellows with broad exposure to sports medicine and help strengthen their clinical skills across a range of practice areas.

Longitudinal Experiences  

In addition to required rotations, fellows participate in structured professional development throughout the year, including:

  • Participation in the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) conferences
  • Sports medicine-related seminars and workshops
  • Research and scholarly activity 

These longitudinal experiences support continued learning and deepen fellows' academic and professional engagement in sports medicine.

Inspira Committees  

Fellows may participate in departmental involvement through opportunities such as the Wellness Committee and the Residency and Fellow Council Committee.
